Learn about the history of Ultramare.
In 1934, in Sweden, Ludvig Mattias founded the company Ultramare, dealing with the import of jute and the production of jute bags for agriculture, mainly for the transport and storage of potatoes. The name Ultramare (over the sea) comes from the sailing ship that brought jute from India to Europe. The sailing ship still serves under the Danish flag and is the world’s smallest original three-mast vessel.
In 1954, Ultramare shifted all its activities to the trade of nonwoven fabrics and filters for the air cleaning, and after fifteen years it began large-scale production of its own air filters.
Continuous development resulted in the need to open a branch in Poland. The Ultramare Szwedzkie Filtry Sp. z o.o. company was established in 1996 on the initiative of the Swedish company of Ultramare AB, the oldest manufacturer of air filters in Scandinavia.
In 2003, we transformed into a separate organizational unit operating under the name of Ultramare Sp. z o.o. The registered office as well as the warehouse and production plants of the company are located in Szemud near Gdynia. The company also has a Trade Office in Warsaw.
Currently, we work with many ventilation and service companies, but also with pharmaceutical corporations, real estate managers, leading food producers, health service, universities and world leaders in the field of electronic equipment. We care about the cooperation with small and medium-sized enterprises in an equal manner.
